The Power of Collaborative Storytelling: Writing the Unspoken Words

0-used-monthly posts, Creative Writing-Anthologies, NON-FICTION, Writer's Life

By: Angel Lynn Reece

As writers, we often look inward to create worlds, characters, and plotlines from our own imagination. However, some of the most emotionally moving prose doesn’t come from a single author’s mind—it comes from the shared, raw experiences of everyday human connection. Collaborative storytelling and community anthologies allow us to tap into an undeniable collective vulnerability that a single writer cannot fully replicate alone.

When we create open writing projects focused on a singular, deeply emotional theme, we build a temporary home for words that would otherwise remain hidden forever. For many individuals, writing down a secret, a regret, or an unconfessed emotion is a critical step toward healing. For the reader, encountering these raw, unfiltered entries offers immediate comfort, reminding them that their private emotional struggles are globally shared.

This is the driving philosophy behind my upcoming collaborative novel and anthology project, tentatively titled “The Things I Wish I Would/Could Have Said”.

This project is a dedicated safe space for the heavy thoughts, final goodbyes, unconfessed love, or silent boundaries we never got to vocalize to the people in our lives. I am actively collecting raw letters, poems, stories, and confessions from people all over the world to publish directly alongside my own personal pieces.

If you are a creative writer or poet with a piece sitting in your notes app, or if you simply have an unspoken message burning to be let go, I invite you to contribute to this collaborative human experience. Submissions are 100% free, entirely anonymous, and no email data is tracked.

Please share your unspoken truth with the project at our secure portal here: https://forms.gle/toGDmFtwwZuWsSZJ8

Ther Sermon Song: A New Genre in Sacred Music

I took notes and turned my notes into notes of song, as I composed a duet which I entitled “Sing to the Lord” ( which has since been published. ) But on the next Sunday, I presented the score to the associate pastor, who is also our choir director, and dedicated it to him. He read it, and on the subsequent Sunday, he arranged for the two of us to sing with his wife accompanying us on the piano.  And thus the sermon song was born.

News Desert Map

The United States has lost roughly a third of its newspapers since 2005, and the decline hasn’t slowed.
